The Tank Mechanical Superintendent is a critical leader in the field responsible for overall job production, crew management and development, job safety, and successful delivery of the defined project scope of work. To be successful, the individual must represent the core values of the company and have the ability to influence others to do the same. The following description has been designed to indicate the general nature and essential responsibilities of work performed in this position.

- Keep the Project Manager (PM) updated daily on the following:
Upcoming material needs;
Items completed the previous day;
The plan for the current day. - Responsible for the management of job hours, including accurate time reporting and ensuring that all hours worked are necessary and productive.
- Communicate with PM and Construction Manager (CM) on personnel needs ahead of need at the site.
- Explain task requirements to other crew members so they can complete on their own without constant interaction with the superintendent.
- Plan ahead for tool, material, and equipment needs and communicate with PM to avoid rush shipments or work delays.
- Work with the PM to create a detailed task list to be accomplished in the current week and a clear plan for the following week. Break down larger projects into smaller 2‑week projects to measure productivity.
- Review production graphs sent by PM and discuss with PM and crew.
- Be visible and accessible on job site throughout the day.
- Build relationships with customer contacts and inspectors on site.
- Understand scope of work to determine which items are extras; before work begins on an extra, either communicate with FHG PM and receive approval to proceed or receive written approval from customer PM.
- Maintain a system to receive and track all FHG and customer ordered materials.
- Communicate a vision for each crew member and talk with each crew member at least twice per year about goals for their career.
- Work with CM to develop a detailed and specific plan to elevate and train secondary leaders (foreman) on crew.
- Train new or inexperienced employees, ensuring they are taught the safe and correct way to perform tasks so that good habits are formed from the beginning; this includes compliance with FHG’s NEST program.
- Document with HR any disciplinary measures taken due to crew member performance, including verbal or written warnings.
- Promptly report incidents and near misses to the office.
- Make use of equipment checklists, safety checklists, and procedures available in FHG 360 or the Employee Portal.
- Lead quality daily JSA meetings and weekly safety talk meetings or delegate to a competent crew member; superintendent must remain actively involved to ensure quality of these meetings.
- Have awareness of and enforce all company and client‑related safety policies and procedures.
- Enforce all company and client policies by following the progressive discipline policy outlined in FHG 360; no noncompliance is tolerated.
- Make suggestions on procedures to help improve process, tools, or equipment.
- Submit timecard daily to track production hours with specific details for analysis.
- Submit credit card receipts through the portal weekly.
- Always give the job number when placing and picking up orders (unless paying with a credit card).
- Fill out weekly equipment logs or delegate this task to someone on the crew.
- Complete quarterly tool inventories or delegate this task to someone on the crew.
- Follow through on vehicle/equipment maintenance; the Fleet Manager initiates but requires cooperation from the superintendent.
- Respond to emails or texts from the PM/CM/DM or other office personnel within 24 hours, or sooner if requested…
