Read and interpret work instructions. Strong computer skills. Set up and operate a variety of production equipment and measuring devices. Examples may include milling/grinding machines, furnaces, peening machines, part wash machines, coating machines, airflow/water flow machines, calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc. Work from operation sheets, work instructions, part travelers, and oral instruction to set up equipment within the assigned business unit, involving a limited number of surfaces to be machined.
Obtain operator certification to be able to accept/reject parts. Maintain machines by performing required total preventative maintenance (TPM). Work collaboratively with engineers, quality assurance, programmers and other production personnel or others to resolve machining problems and assist in part process development (if applicable). Frequently move about the machine line to operate various manufacturing equipment (approximately 90% of the time), bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, transport product and/or equipment weighing up to 10 pounds.
May be assigned to carry out tasks not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives.
- HS Diploma/GED
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program / contract
- Previous Manufacturing experience or education or Advanced Manufacturing Certification
- 2 or more years Machine Operator or Manufacturing Experience
- Ability to make computations involving decimals and fractions
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written
