Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Night shift, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM; every other weekend; 13-week contract

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $56 per hour

• Perform thorough patient assessments and continuous critical care monitoring to keep patients safe and stable
• Conduct neuro and spinal checks and document changes promptly, using NIHSS when indicated
• Administer and manage IV infusions, PCA pumps, and blood transfusions with strict adherence to protocols
• Manage chest tubes, tracheostomies, feeding tubes, and lumber drains with confidence and precision
• Collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary team to develop and adjust care plans for progressive care patients
• Provide clear patient and family education to support recovery and safe transitions of care
• Accurately document care and clinical findings in Cerner to ensure continuity and quality of care
• Support unit flow and staffing needs, including every other weekend coverage and occasional float assignments

• Current RN license (North Carolina or compact) required
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience, experience in Progressive Care, Neuro or Trauma preferred
• Comfortable with critical care monitoring and high-acuity patient care
• Demonstrated ability to manage chest tubes, trachs, feeding tubes, IV infusions and transfusions
• Strong teamwork, communication, and patient-focused attitude

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) workflows and patient ratios (typical 4:1)
• Neuro and spinal assessment skills including NIHSS
• Experience with Cerner electronic medical record
• Proficiency with IV pumps, PCA pumps, and chest tube management
• Competence in tracheostomy care, feeding tube placement, and blood transfusion
• Critical thinking for acute changes in patient condition and escalation protocols
• Comfort using patient lifts and other safe patient handling equipment
