Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM — includes every-other-weekend and holiday support; floating between units required

Hours per Week: 38

Candidate Pay Rate: $56 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Provide high-acuity nursing care on a 10-bed ICU/PCU overflow unit, managing 2:1 ICU and 4-5:1 PCU patient ratios
  • Assess and stabilize critically ill patients, applying expert clinical judgment in fast-paced situations
  • Manage ventilators and advanced hemodynamic monitoring to optimize patient outcomes
  • Administer and titrate critical care pharmacology (IV sedation, paralytics, vasopressors, etc.) safely and accurately
  • Perform central line care and assist providers with bedside procedures including chest tube insertions and intubations
  • Document care thoroughly in Cerner and perform bedside shift report to ensure continuity
  • Collaborate with the interprofessional team and participate in nurse leader rounding to improve the patient experience
  • Float to other units as needed and support unit staffing while maintaining professional standards
Qualifications
  • Active RN (Registered Nurse) credential — current and in good standing
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical ICU or critical care nursing experience, ideally in a large facility
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
  • Hands-on experience with ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring and central line care
  • Ability to assist with bedside procedures (chest tubes, intubations) and comfort in high-acuity environments
  • Strong critical thinking, teamwork skills, and flexibility to float between units
Knowledge & Skills
  • Ventilator management and respiratory care for critically ill patients
  • Advanced hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation
  • Critical care pharmacology (sedation, paralytics, vasopressors)
  • Central line management and sterile technique
  • Proficiency with Cerner electronic documentation
  • Experience with targeted temperature management (TTM), IV pumps, and lift equipment
  • Excellent clinical assessment, prioritization and communication skills
  • Team-oriented approach with the ability to adapt in a dynamic unit
