RN Position Job Notes:

Travel or Local Registered Nurse needed for ASAP start. A minimum of 2+ years of recent hospital bedside experience is required. Candidates must be able to start within 5 weeks. Opportunity for extension upon successful completion of the initial assignment. $750 referral bonus available.

Job Details:

• Work in 4

Heart Cardiovascular Progressive Care unit with 40 cardiac surgery stepdown beds

• Patient ratio of 1:5 patients per RN

• Primary patient population includes CV surgery and vascular surgery patients (open heart surgery, thoracic lung surgery, esophagogastrectomy, AAA repair, carotid endarterectomies)

• Also care for overflow medical cardiology patients with heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, heart block

• Perform epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, IV glucommander, and cardiac drip management

• Manage various cardiac medications including phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine

• Work with Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, various lifts, and Cerner EMR system

• Float to any stepdown units (1:5 ratios), medical surgical units (1:6-7 ratios), or ER inpatient holding area (1:6)

• Must have stepdown and telemetry experience - candidates without these skills will not be considered

• Preferred experience with CV surgery and vascular surgery populations, CVICU experience

• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS

• Dress code:
All navy, white tops/navy bottoms, or all white scrubs

• No on-call requirements

• Minimum 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday day/night) per 6-week schedule period

• Must be flexible to work holidays
