RN Position Job Notes:

Travel or Local Registered Nurse needed for ASAP start. A minimum of 2+ years of recent hospital bedside experience is required. Candidates must be able to start within 5 weeks. Opportunity for extension upon successful completion of the initial assignment. $750 referral bonus available.

Opportunity:

RN - PCU

• Work in a 40-bed cardiac surgery stepdown unit (4
  
  Heart, Cardiovascular Progressive Care)
• Handle primary patient population including CV surgery, vascular surgery, open heart surgery (CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR), thoracic lung surgery (lobectomy, thoracotomy), esophagogastrectomy, AAA procedures, fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomies
• Care for overflow medical cardiology patients with heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block
• Maintain 1:5 patient ratio per RN
• Work with Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and various lifts using Cerner EMR system
• Perform typical procedures including epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, IV gluccomander, and cardiac drip management (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine)
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
• Must have stepdown and telemetry experience
• Preferred experience with CV surgery and vascular surgery population within past year, plus CVICU experience
• Float to any stepdown units (1:5 ratios), medical/surgical units (1:6-7 ratios), or ER inpatient holding area (1:6)
• Dress code:
  All navy scrubs, white tops with navy bottoms, or all white scrubs
• No on-call requirements
• Minimum 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday day/night) per 6-week schedule period
• Must be flexible to work holidays
