Description:

This position involves caring for patients primarily in cardiovascular and vascular surgery.
The patient population includes those recovering from open-heart surgery and thoracic surgeries.
Overflow medical cardiology patients will also be managed.
Typical diagnoses include heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block.
The unit consists of 40 cardiac surgery stepdown beds with approximately 100 staff members.
The staffing ratio is 1:5 patients per RN and 1:13 for Patient Care Technicians.
Key equipment includes Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and various lifts.
Electronic Medical Records are managed using Cerner.

Experience with prior CV surgery and vascular surgery populations is preferred.
Typical procedures include epidural management, chest tube management, IV gluccomander, and cardiac management.
Candidates must be team players and enjoy fast-paced environments.
Flexibility and adaptability are essential for success in this role.
Weekend requirements include a minimum of 6 weekend shifts every 6 weeks.
No on-call duties are required.
