RN-Registered Nurse // PCU - Progressive Care Unit Onsite Contract Starts 7/13/2026 13 weeks

Night Shift 12 hours/day 3 days/week

Cardiovascular and vascular surgery including open heart surgery (CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR), thoracic lung surgery (lobectomy, thoracotomy), esophagogastrectomy, AAA repair (open and endovascular), fem-pop bypass, carotid endarterectomy. Overflow medical cardiology patients with diagnoses of heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, heart block, etc.

40 cardiac surgery stepdown beds
Approximately 100 staff total

Day

Shift: 1 charge RN, 13 RNs, 4 PCTs, 1.33 HUC
Night

Shift: 1 charge RN, 13 RNs, 4 PCTs, 0.33 HUC
Patient Ratios: 1:5 RNs, 1:13 PCTs

• Stepdown experience
• Telemetry experience

• Prior CV surgery and vascular surgery experience within a year
• CVICU experience

• Epidural management
• Chest tube management
• Tube feedings
• IV gluccomander
• Cardiac gtt management (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine)

• ACLS
• BLS

• Any SD (1:5 ratios) or MS (1:6-7 ratios) unit
• ER inpatient holding area (1:6)

Scrub color/attire – All navy, white tops/navy bottoms, or all white.

Weekends: minimum 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday day/night) per 6 week schedule period.
