General Summary

The Quality Control Lab Technician is responsible for working in a laboratory environment and performing inspections and quality tests on batches of ink, incoming raw materials, aqueous coatings, UV coatings, pressroom chemistry products, and other associated materials. This position must communicate and interact daily with the operations and technical employees.

Job Functions & Responsibilities
  • Test random samples from production batches/lots of UV and Water based Inks, Coatings and Adhesives and recommend adjustments according to the company Quality Standards.
  • Inspection of raw materials to support purchase decisions and to help reducing quality variability.
  • Follow the testing procedures outlined in the Quality Manual and suggest improvements.
  • Evaluate performance of new formulas and inspection plans and work with the formulators and the operations group on their improvement.
  • Document and record quality control test results for raw materials, intermediates and finished goods.
  • Support the resolution of quality complaints generated internally and externally.
  • Wearing the correct Personal Protective Equipment and follow safety guidelines.
  • Maintain a tidy and safe workspace.
  • Any additional tasks or responsibilities assigned by the company or direct supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 2-year Associates Degree or 4-year Bachelor’s Degree in Science related field required.
  • Applicants with extensive inks/coatings experience will be considered.
  • Ability to distinguish color nuances will be required.
  • Previous experience in Color Theory/Matching preferred.
  • Ability to maintain records, generate written reports and communicate results.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position requires frequent standing and walking in a laboratory environment.

Ability to work in an environment around chemicals that may cause various odors.
