- Your Future is Now Position Summary
The bar back is responsible for performing tasks that support the bartender and other staff members who may need help. The position includes helping with opening and closing duties, taking in room dining orders, making sure all items are stocked properly, assisting in any reordering processes, and running food to guests.
This position will typically be scheduled for evening shifts in our Workshop Lounge space. Shifts begin around 4pm and may require working as late as 12am, and weekends/holidays are required as we are a part of a full service hotel.

Candidates who are willing to cross train between departments (restaurant, banquets) will be considered for full time employment (30+ hours per week) after a 90 day probationary period.

Essential Job FunctionsServe food and drinks for guests using suggestive selling techniques.
- Restocking liquor bottles and changing kegs.
- Learning cocktail recipes and other menu items.
- Cleaning bar and table surfaces throughout the shift.
- Wiping down chairs, railings, and other high‑touch surfaces.
- Removing and disposing of bags from trash receptacles in and around the bar area.
- Removing used glassware and other utensils from customers’ table during their stay.
- Sweeping and mopping in and around bar service areas and customer common areas.
- Answering customer questions and routing customer complaints to the appropriate staff member.
- Assisting bartenders with taking customer orders and processing orders in the point‑of‑sale system during peak business hours.
- Stocking bar items such as glassware, straws, toothpicks, napkins, garnishes, ice, towels, and cleaning supplies (this may include restocking for bar opening or closing).
- Ensuring that taps, coolers, and other appliances like blenders or coffee makers are working properly; troubleshooting simple malfunctions as needed.
- Maintain a clean bar.
- Know and comply with food handling and liquor laws.
- Engage guests in a cordial, efficient, and professional manner.
- Perform all bar setup and restocking/replenishment of bar inventory and supplies.
- Adhere to hotel grooming standards.
- Assist food and beverage team as situations arise.
- Resolve guest complaints and perform service recover when required (and elevate to immediate supervisor if needed).
- Perform any additional tasks requested by management.
High school education/GED.
ExperiencePrevious experience as a barback/support staff member. On the job training is provided.
Hours RequiredScheduled days and time vary based on hotel needs. Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
Skills And Abilities- Knowledge or and ability to operate a computer.
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
