Buncombe County Sheriff's Office offers a Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) Cadet Program for individuals not yet certified. Cadets are paid employees while attending the 18-20 week BLET academy at A-B Tech and will be prepared to become a deputy after certification.
Minimum requirements include a high school diploma, NC BLET course completion, and a valid NC driver’s license. Health insurance begins the first day of the month following start date, and trainees gain hands-on experience
