Security Manager

As Corporate Security Manager, this position defines and directly manages the controls that carry out Biltmore Farms' overall security strategy. The role supports the company in maintaining the security of the business, its employees, visitors, guests, tenants, and assets throughout the local area.

The Corporate Security Manager leads and directs the day-to-day security function and provides the optimal level of security for the safety of life, property, and assets. Responsibilities include developing security plans and strategies; communicating policies and procedures to internal and external stakeholders; preparing long-term forecasts for expenditures; overseeing third-party security personnel; administering the company's threat management platform; and serving as a liaison to tenants and to local law enforcement on security matters.

This position reports to the Senior Director Information and Security, works in close partnership with Human Resources, Legal, Property Services, and Facilities, and serves on a cross-functional Security Committee.

Incident Response Management
  • Works collaboratively as part of a team to ensure the safety of employees, visitors, guests, and tenants.
  • Monitors and responds to all security, building, and life safety system alarms in coordination with internal departments, including Technology and Facilities.
  • Assists during emergencies and building issues, ensuring minimal injury to people and damage to property. Responds to calls for help and contacts the fire department or law enforcement as required.
Threat Management and Case Administration
  • Serves as the day-to-day administrator of the company's threat management and incident reporting platform, including user provisioning, permission tiers, intake form configuration, and periodic access audits.
  • Maintains accurate, timely, and defensible case records; ensures every open matter has an assigned owner and a documented status.
  • Supports the company's workplace violence prevention program, including reporting through company-designated software and traveling to relevant courthouses to obtain background and public record information.
Security and Risk Assessments
  • Strategically assesses and mitigates potential threats faced by the company.
  • Designs security and emergency incident response plans to meet the unique needs of the company and its properties.
  • Develops relationships with business lines, tenants, and visitors to ensure adoption and maintenance of security guidance.
Technology and Physical Security Systems
  • Administers and helps maintain the company's physical security technology stack, including access control and badging, video surveillance, alarm and intrusion detection.
  • Supports the deployment, operation, and compliance of any unmanned aerial systems (drone) program, including coordination with the Senior Director of Technology and Security.
  • Partners with the Technology function on the cybersecurity of security systems themselves and supports the development and maintenance of related policies and procedures.
Third-Party Security Oversight
  • In collaboration with internal departments, reviews, selects, and serves as the point of contact overseeing internal and third-party contracted security personnel, both armed and unarmed.
  • Develops quality relationships with third-party guard and executive protection providers and takes action to ensure the company's needs are met.
  • Creates and maintains Standard Operating Procedures and post orders that enable contracted security personnel to perform efficiently at company properties.
Contract and Vendor Administration
  • Maintains a current register of all security-related contracts, memoranda of understanding, and service agreements, including scope, value, term, auto-renewal language, notice periods, and renewal dates.
  • Supports Human Resources IT & and Security, Legal, and Finance in the negotiation and renewal of security agreements.
  • Administers memoranda of understanding with municipal and county law enforcement agencies and ensures obligations on both sides are met.
