Position: Biltmore House Maintenance Support Staff II - Full Time

The starting pay range for this position begins at $17.85/hour and is based on the level of qualifications and relevant experience above the minimum requirements. The position is full‑time, working 32+ hours per week. Biltmore House Support Services StaffII perform general maintenance in Biltmore House and other historic structures on Biltmore Estate, including general plumbing, electrical, painting, stone cleaning, pressure washing, gutter cleaning, and light carpentry.

Staff also assist other departments such as Floral, Museum Services, and Housekeeping. The schedule typically falls on Monday–Thursday from 6am to 4:30pm, though it can vary.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma (additional education, training, and/or certification(s) preferred).
  • At least two (2) years of previous maintenance experience, preferably three (3) years, including work on historic structures.
  • Prior experience with repair/maintenance for carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, and/or electrical systems; trade certifications and/or licenses preferred.
  • Strong planning, organizational, project, and time‑management skills with excellent attention to detail and a focus on quality.
  • Proactive, able to take initiative, and work effectively both individually and as part of a team.
  • Capable of taking direction and understanding and executing instructions successfully.
  • Ability to operate various equipment, tools, and machinery.
  • Comfortable responding to guest questions and requests in a manner consistent with Biltmore standards.
  • Valid driver’s license, at least 19 years of age, and a clean driving record for the past three years.
Essential

Job Duties
  • Repair work on the plumbing system in Biltmore House and other historic structures.
  • Basic electrical repairs.
  • Perform basic carpentry skills.
  • Set up and break down special projects.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations.
  • Move collections.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50pounds frequently and up to 100pounds on a regular basis with assistance.
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and/or scaffolding.
  • Ability to reach overhead, bend, squat, or kneel.
  • Ability to work both inside and outdoors in all types of weather conditions with temperature fluctuations.
