Flex: A position working an average of 20-29 hours per week (between 1000 - 1559 hours/year).

Support Services Staff IIs perform general maintenance in Biltmore House and other historic structures on Biltmore Estate including, but not limited to: general plumbing, electrical, painting, stone cleaning, pressure washing, gutter cleaning, and light carpentry.

Assisting other departments such as Floral, Museum Services and Housekeeping.

Schedule can vary, but is generally Monday-Friday from 6am - 4:30pm.

• High school diploma. Additional education, training, and/or certification(s) preferred.
• At least two (2) years of previous maintenance experience required. The preferred candidate will have three (3) years of experience, including working with historic structures.
• Must have prior experience with repair/maintenance for carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, and/or electrical systems. Trade certifications and/or licenses are preferred.
• Strong planning, organizational, project and time management skills, with excellent attention to detail and a focus on quality.
• Ability to be proactive and take initiative as well as work effectively both individually and as part of a team.
• Ability to take direction and understand and execute instructions successfully.
• Ability to operate various equipment, tools, and machinery.
• Should be comfortable with responding to guest questions and requests in a manner consistent with Biltmore standards.
• Must have a valid driver’s license, be at least 19 years of age, and have a clean driving record for the past three years.

• Repair work on the plumbing system in Biltmore House and other historic structures.
• Basic electrical repairs.
• Perform basic carpentry skills.
• Set up and break down Special Projects.
• Follow all safety rules and regulations.
• Moving Collections

• Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds on a regular basis with assistance.
• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time.
• Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and/or scaffolding.
• Ability to reach overhead, bend, squat/kneel.
• Ability to work both inside and outdoors in all types of weather conditions with fluctuations in temperature.
