** THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN DISTRICT 4 - ROCKINGHAM COUNTY AND SUPPORTS SURROUNDING AREAS/DISTRICTS**

The Driver Education Program Specialist will train and certify school bus drivers in the classroom and behind the wheel. The selected candidate will be responsible for the following:

• teaching safe driving procedures for school bus driver defensive driving courses
• driver improvement clinics
• conducting vision and medical screenings for driver education classes
• providing training and certification for commercial driver training instructors, as well as inspecting commercial driver training schools and vehicles for compliance with state and county laws
• investigating complaints involving commercial driver training schools
• maintaining all work-related reports and files as well as completing the required weekly reports that are submitted to DMV's central office
• the selected candidate will be subject to a criminal background and motor vehicle records check

The program area for this position includes the following:

• experience training and teaching
• auditing experience
• bus driving experience
• working knowledge of DMV or Federal computer programs
• experience inspecting vehicles for CDL law

NC12/ $47,703.00-$83,479.00

• Experience providing instruction in a classroom setting
• Experience developing and/or revising lesson plans
• Experience completing and maintaining reports/files
• Experience with Microsoft applications
• Previously or currently possess a Commercial Driver License (CDL) with a P (Passenger) and S (School Bus) endorsements for at least 2 years
