Responsibilities
Oak Plains Academy (a UHS company) is located on 20 acres of rolling hills in a rural setting about 45 minutes from Nashville, Tennessee. The campus offers psychiatric residential treatment services to children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral issues and includes a full‑size gymnasium, separate academic building, and four dormitories.
We are seeking a Utilization Review Coordinator who will ensure the safety and security of our youth, adhere to strict policy guidelines, and adapt to flexible schedules as needed. The coordinator will manage and facilitate a continuum of service, promote positive outcomes and optimal reimbursement through coordination of patient care, daily clinical reviews, quality documentation, appeals, and reporting, and supervise UR team members.
The coordinator will also complete discharge practices for patients and families.

Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in nursing, social work, psychology, health information management, or other related healthcare field preferred with two years of psychiatric experience in chart analysis and utilization review.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of third‑party reimbursement and processes for re‑establishing benefits when unexpectedly terminated; experience prioritizing review processes in a managed‑care environment and interpreting admission and continued stay criteria.
- Experience with admission and discharge functions and ability to discuss current psychopathology with BHO reviewers using integrated clinical knowledge of Axis I diagnosis and evidence‑based documentation.
- 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license.
