Summary
We are seeking a passionate and creative individual to join our team at Poage Elementary School as a full-time Art Teacher. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore their artistic abilities, foster a love for the arts, and provide a nurturing environment where creativity can flourish. This position will involve teaching art techniques, promoting self-expression, and integrating art with other subjects to enhance the overall educational experience.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement engaging art curriculum for students in grades K-5, aligned with state standards.
- Create lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, ensuring all students can participate and thrive.
- Teach a variety of art techniques, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media.
- Organize and manage art supplies and materials, ensuring a safe and organized classroom environment.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages creativity and self-expression.
- Assess and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback and support to help students improve their skills.
- Collaborate with other teachers to integrate art into cross-curricular projects and initiatives.
- Organize and oversee art shows, exhibitions, and community events to showcase student work.
- Stay current with art education trends and best practices, participating in professional development opportunities.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, Elementary education, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification in Elementary education.
- Previous teaching experience, preferably in an elementary school setting.
- Strong knowledge of various art techniques and materials.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students to explore their creativity.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- A portfolio showcasing personal and student artwork is preferred.
- Familiarity with integrating technology into art instruction is a plus.
