Job Summary
- Directs the Environmental Services program to ensure clean, orderly, and attractive conditions throughout the Medical Center, assures ample supply of clean linen and manages the hazardous waste program by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
- Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
- Provide day to day leadership for the Environmental Services supervisors
- Directs the daily operations of the environmental services department to ensure all specified areas are maintained
- Performs regular inspections and evaluations of the facility, recommend action items, and facilitate completion of all action plans
- Analyzes and develops strategies based on feedback obtained from team members, patients, and visitors
- Works to develop and implement goals, standards, and procedures throughout the health system in collaboration with departmental leaders and vendors
- Acts as the liaison between key customer contacts
• Interviews, selects, hires, orients, and evaluates environmental services team members - Coordinates the Hazardous Waste program in accordance with all state and federal regulations
- Develops the departmental financial budget and is responsible for keeping expenditures within the allocations
- Participates in the Safety Committee and in the Infection Control Committee
- Establishes standards and procedures for work of the EVS team and leadership
- Plans work schedules to ensure adequate service
- Inspects and evaluates physical condition of the Medial Center to identify potentially unsafe conditions through the Hazardous Surveillance program
- Submits to management recommendations for painting, repairs, furnishings, relocation of equipment, and reallocation of space
- Periodically inventories supplies and equipment
- Investigates new and improved cleaning instruments and methods
- Minimum requirement:
- 5-10 years of experience managing housekeeping function, preferably within a hospital environment
- Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Completion of UKKD LEAD Academy
- This job operates in a professional office environment routinely using standard office equipment such as computers.
- Occasionally requires travel to and from off-site locations
- The noise level in this position is usually low
- Frequently required to maintain a stationary position behind a computer or while presenting to individuals or groups.
- Frequently required to move about throughout the Medical Center or while rounding.
- Constantly required to communicate with people electronically, telephonically and in-person requiring talking and hearing.
- Constantly required to operate a computer and telephone.
- Constantly required to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
- Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
