** MLT In Training
**** Job Summary
** Performs medical laboratory tests, procedures, experiments, and analyses to provide data for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease by performing required duties and responsibilities.
** Essential Functions*
* • Conducts chemical analyses of body fluids to determine normal and abnormal components.
• Analyzes and verifies test results before releasing findings.
• Performs quality control studies and routine preventative maintenance according to protocols.
• Conducts equipment checks as scheduled.
• Performs STAT testing within established turnaround guidelines.
• Responds to queries from hospital care team members courteously and promptly.
• Assists in the orientation and training of new laboratory employees.
• Maintains professional growth and required certification.
• Reports equipment or computer malfunctions to supervisor immediately.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
** Education Requirement
** 60 semester hours, or equivalent, from an accredited institution that, at a minimum, include either
- * 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses; or
* 24 semester hours of science courses that include
- * Six semester hours of chemistry; and
* Six semester hours of biology; and
* Twelve semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination.
** Experience Requirement
** MLT in Training position will be for a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 1 year.

All experience must be paid and in the same related field.

Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week.

Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.
** Certifications & Licensures
** Within 6 months, the candidate must complete training in at least one department within the laboratory. Within 1 year, the candidate must obtain ASCP certification and meet qualifications to move to an MLT position.
