Provides total patient care in accordance with physician’s orders and individual patient needs in conformance with the recognized standards of nursing practice.
DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Assesses patient and/or conducts screenings and documents utilizing standard scales when indicated as required per organization.
- Prioritizes and documents patient problems based on assessed needs/problems in collaboration with patient, family, and health care team.
- Documents changes in patient condition and effectiveness and timeliness of care/intervention.
- Utilizes organization-wide safe medication practices including but not limited to the 5 rights of medication administration, barcode scanning and other medication safety processes specific to the unit/department.
- Knows actions and usual dosage, indications and side effects of medications administered.
- Commits to the service of others by attending a class or program for service development.
- Exemplifies excellent customer service. Is recognized by the facility in various way that are considered to be providing excellent customer service.
- Maintains a neat appearance, is polite to internal and external patients and customers, is reliable and has good in person and phone etiquette.
- Participates in an organization-wide event/programs and supports the organization in a positive manner.
- Willingness to express a positive and professional approach to job responsibilities.
- Contributes to an overall positive culture (exemplifies teamwork by working well with others within and across departments, manages up peers to customers served, serves as preceptor, jobshadows/cross trains, etc.).
- Work product/output is consistently accurate, timely and relevant to department-specific policies, procedures and standards. Examples:
Complies with hospital and departmental policies and all TJC, OSHA or other regulatory standard. - Identifies ways to improve processes, reduce waste or decrease cost within the department.
