Job SummaryResponsible for providing nursing assistance and performing basic nursing procedures under supervision. Ensures completion of delegated tasks only after successful clinical training and competency validation. Supports registered nurses in the delivery of patient care while adhering to organizational standards and policies. Maintains accountability for professional behavior and compliance with established guidelines. Collaborates with nursing staff to promote quality patient outcomes.
Essential Functions- Assists the RN or LPN with routine patient care and treatments, including taking vital signs, monitoring intake and output, assessing pain, administering enemas, applying hot or cold packs, checking glucose levels, and assisting with patient mobility.
- Provides personal hygiene care and supports activities of daily living, such as bathing, feeding, ambulating, turning, positioning, and assisting with toileting needs.
- Performs adjunct care tasks, including administering nonsterile dressings, surgical preps, ice packs, heat treatments, sitz baths, therapeutic baths, and applying restraints as directed.
- Assists with non‑nursing tasks, such as crash cart checks, quality control checks, retrieving equipment and supplies, maintaining cleanliness, and stocking supplies.
- Conducts 15-minute patient checks and belongings checks as required.
- Recognizes and practices within the scope of certification and competency, promptly relaying questions, concerns, or unusual situations to the supervising RN or LPN and seeking assistance when needed.
- Communicates pertinent information during shift-to-shift and transfer reports and documents care activities in EPIC or designated records.
- Assists with admission, discharge, pre-operative, and post-operative care activities under the supervision of an RN or LPN.
- Performs all duties and procedures as defined and authorized by regulatory guidelines and under the direction of an RN or LPN.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent with active enrollment in an accredited nursing program with one clinical semester completed or completion of the an accredited nursing program within the last 6 months.
Experience RequirementNo work experience required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. All experience must be paid and in the same related field. Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week. Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.
