Lead Cashier, Retail

Overview

The Lead Cashier is responsible for efficient guest transactions, maintaining cashwrap standards, and leading cashier training and development.

Performance

• Contribute to meeting store sales, service, and loyalty goals.
• Provide exceptional guest service, greeting and engaging each guest.
• Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
• Partner guests with associates for makeup, skincare, and product demonstrations.
• Book appointments and support in‑store events.
• Maintain cashwrap displays, supplies, and impulse fixtures.
• Maintain prompt, regular attendance.

People

• Foster an inclusive environment for teammates, peers, and guests.
• Complete cashier chat‑ins, chat‑outs, and associate exit inspections as needed.
• Stay informed about industry trends and product knowledge.
• Promote the guest loyalty program and Ulta Beauty app.
• Assist in training new cashiers and cross‑training associates.
• Lead peers to achieve peak productivity and performance.
• Drive cashier accountability and follow system prompts.
• Participate in ongoing brand and category training.
• Collaborate with managers and associates to grow business.

Process

• Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, and standards.
• Adhere to dress code.
• Control all cash and media at the cashwrap.
• Complete select register open and close functions.
• Maintain store cleanliness throughout the store.
• Protect assets and minimize loss through safety, inventory control, and loss prevention.
• Execute other operational tasks as directed.

Education

• High school diploma preferred.

Experience

• 2 years of relevant work experience or equivalent education and experience.
• Ability to delegate, multitask, and problem‑solve.
• Knowledge and passion for guest service and sales.
• Experience addressing guest concerns promptly and professionally.
• Experience exceeding sales goals and training new hires.

Skills

• Proficient with point‑of‑sale systems and Apple devices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Ability to react under pressure, use good judgment, and adapt.

• Work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Role must be held by an individual 18 years or older.

• Continuous mobility throughout the store during shift.
• Frequent bending, pulling, pushing, crouching, stooping, twisting, and reaching.
• Frequent lifting or moving up to 25 lbs.
• Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects.
