Assistant Store Managers are the heart and soul of the Lids brand. They foster passion for sporting and fashion goods by meeting customer needs and ensuring the store’s areas are fully engaged. Managers are accountable for retail store performance, including achieving key results, creating an inclusive team environment, and delivering exceptional customer service by offering expertise on Lids products and services.
PrincipalDuties & Responsibilities People & Training
- Act as Manager on duty for employee scheduling issues, customer complaints, etc., when Store Manager is not present.
- Manage store associates via LIDS Training Programs, goal setting, and regular follow‑up.
- Administer progressive discipline steps, including verbal and written warnings.
- Engage team members by creating a fun and productive environment and helping them understand role impact.
- Contribute to a respectful and inclusive team environment by establishing supportive working relationships and adhering to Lids Brand Standards.
- Responsible for scheduling and staffing, calling associates for unexpected peaks when the Store Manager is absent.
- Participate in LIDS Training Programs, adhere to set goals for sales and tasks, and conduct regular follow‑up.
- Assist in recruiting and training store personnel on proper operations and procedures.
- Encourage store associates’ compliance with company policies, procedures, and guidelines, including safekeeping of inventory, funds, and property.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Lead, execute, and assist Lids selling strategy to achieve KPIs, sales targets, and deliver exceptional customer service.
- Resolve customer feedback and address issues in the moment, including customer escalations and urgent requests, with a “make it right” approach.
- Ensure every customer is offered the opportunity to participate in Lids membership programs or special in‑store offers when live.
- Adhere to visual guidelines for merchandising, signage, and store cleanliness.
- Maintain a professional appearance consistent with the Company Dress Code Policy.
- Execute operations‑focused company‑level directives, promotions, and initiatives.
- Understand and adhere to Policies & Procedures Manual to maintain a safe work environment.
- Maintain store technology and equipment – MPOS, Lids Custom, etc. – by daily audits, ensuring functionality, and ordering repairs as needed.
- Maintain store facilities, supplies, and services by executing service requests, assessing maintenance needs, ordering repairs, or replenishing supplies.
- Effectively manage cash, including accurate opening/closing of the till, counterfeit protection practices, and consistent bank drops.
- Prepare store for inventory audits and support performing audits to confirm inventory accuracy.
- Open and close the store following procedures per the Operations P&P Manual.
- Protect company assets within LIDS Retail policies guidelines.
- Assist in preparing store work schedules with proper coverage and within wage control guidelines.
- Follow all inventory policies for receiving, transferring, price changes, and product counts.
- Organize the backroom strategically to maximize efficiency.
- Execute optimal layout and visual merchandising (VM) strategy, including window activations, hardware flips, mannequin flips, and seasonal or weekly merchandise changes.
