ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Auto Body Technician is responsible for repairing damaged vehicle body parts in accordance with company specifications, processes and time standards. Skilled in analyzing, assessing and fixing damaged vehicles, this role repairs, replaces and refinishes outer body parts, and is also capable of fixing internal automotive structures.
Repairs vehicles per estimate and according to established standards. Prepares vehicles for body repair work and restores bodywork to its original condition, including removing damaged parts and installing replacements using specialized tools to realign structural components.
Communicates with management regarding additional repairs, potential problems that could affect quality or delivery time, and any required changes.
Maintains tools and equipment in good working order and operates all tools safely, ensuring a clean and hazard-free work area.
Wears all required safety and health protective equipment, including eye protection.
Cooperates and assists other personnel in vehicle repair and preparation, depending on schedule and expertise.
Keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state, and local regulations affecting body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal.
QUALIFICATIONS- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1-3 years experience in collision repair, with solid knowledge of processes, techniques and materials.
- Extensive knowledge of vehicle structure to remove and replace components such as doors, windscreens and fenders.
- Demonstrated safety precautions required for this position.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Physical strength to lift up to 35 pounds regularly and occasionally over 70 pounds.
- Demonstrated agility, equilibrium and coordination for tasks such as climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling and balancing.
- Strong arm, hand and finger dexterity for handling tools in tight, confined spaces with limited visibility.
- Ability to work in a high-performance, fast‑paced production environment.
