Located in Greater Boston, Mass Bay is a comprehensive, open-access community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.

Position Summary:

Mass Bay Community College is seeking a part-time Humanities faculty member to join the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences. This position includes teaching Critical Thinking, a general education requirement for all degree seeking students in person on the Wellesley, Framingham, and Ashland campuses.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching and promoting success among a diverse student population. The candidate is expected to commit to excellence in teaching and learning, collaboration and professional development. Adjunct faculty are expected to deliver course materials in a learner-centered environment conductive to engaging students in the learning process. The faculty member in this position communicates consistently and effectively with students, faculty and administrators, and responds to communications within a 24 hour period of time.

The faculty is responsible for managing this course through timely grading of assignments, providing substantial student feedback with assignments, and submission of clinical evaluations, attendance and grades.

Faculty are responsible for developing educational and evaluation materials consistent with the philosophy and framework of the program, Mass Bay Community College, and, if applicable, accreditation, licensure, and specialty requirements, and for maintaining current expertise in the discipline.

Responsibilities and Duties:

* Teach in-person Critical Thinking courses on Wellesley Hills, Framingham, or Ashland campuses, as assigned;

* Prepare syllabi and develop curricula to address course and program requirements and student learning outcomes for Graduation Competencies as appropriate;

* Use technology effectively to communicate with students and colleagues and to enhance classroom learning as appropriate;

* Engage in professional development activities to maintain excellence in the discipline and the classroom.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Master's degree in Critical Thinking, Humanities, or related field;

* Minimum of two years of full-time teaching experience, or equivalent part-time experience, teaching writing;

* Excellent written and oral communication skills;

* Demonstrates ability to use information technology effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action and workforce diversity;

* Experience working in a diverse environment;

* Demonstrates commitment to working with underserved students;

* Community College teaching experience strongly preferred;

* Demonstrates ability to work effectively with English language learners, adult learners, and at-opportunity students;

* Demonstrates ability to design and implement a curriculum that uses culturally responsive and inclusive perspectives;

* Demonstrates ability to use a variety of teaching and assessment strategies to promote and evaluate student learning;

* Demonstrates interest in the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Additional Information:

Salary Range: $1,397 - $1,585 per DCE Credit
