Located in Greater Boston, Mass Bay is a comprehensive, open-access community college, offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.

The ideal candidate will join a vibrant educational community and have a desire and ability to serve a population of students with various needs and backgrounds. The candidate is expected to commit to excellence in teaching and learning, collaboration and professional development. Adjunct faculty are expected to deliver course materials in a learner-centered environment conductive to engaging students in the learning process.

The faculty member in this position communicates consistently and effectively with students, faculty and administrators, and responds to communications within a 24 hour period. The faculty is responsible for managing this course through timely grading of assignments, providing substantial student feedback with assignments, and submission of clinical evaluations, attendance and grades.

Faculty members are responsible for developing educational and evaluation materials consistent with the philosophy and framework of the program, Mass Bay Community College and in accordance with National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence. The faculty member is responsible for maintaining all current ASE certifications. Mass Bay Community College invites applicants for an Automotive Instructor. Mass Bay is seeking a dynamic, articulate, proven team player with an ability to manage a positive teaching/learning classroom in the area of Automotive Technology.

This position at the rank of Adjunct Instructor will begin in September 2026.

Key

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop and teach undergraduate courses for a two-year automotive service technician program;
  • Maintain a professional teaching learning environment;
  • Maintain ASE accreditation for the program and teach to ASE standards;
  • Manage classroom and shop/lab to ensure that there is a productive and safe learning environment;
  • Promote college programs and enhance community relationships;
  • Serve on College committees as elected or appointed;
  • Select and recommend suitable instructional materials, and textbooks;
  • Use technology effectively to communicate and to enhance classroom learning as appropriate;
  • Maintain appropriate paperwork and documentation required by Mass Bay;
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students on the College's strategic initiatives dedicated to closing the equity gap related to student outcomes;
  • Support Mass Bay's commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where all individuals are valued and respected;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • ASE Certifications;
  • 5 years of field or work experience in automotive services;
  • Proven oral and written communication and extensive experience with electronic communication.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action;
  • Experience working in a community college or similar environment;
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with students in need;
  • ASE Master Certification with L1;
  • Associate's degree.

Salary Range: $1,512 - $1,715 per DCE Credit
