Job DescriptionAshland Middle School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Special Education ABA/ESP2 Support Professional with experience in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to support students in grades 6–8 within specialized programs and general education settings. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with special education and general education staff to support students in developing academic, behavioral, communication, social-emotional, and independent living skills while promoting meaningful participation in the school community.
This position requires implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), supporting Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs), monitoring student progress, collecting and maintaining data, assisting with daily living skills as needed, and communicating effectively with teachers, related service providers, the Special Education Coordinator, and building administration.
QualificationsCandidates for consideration should have:
- Associate's degree or higher preferred
- Experience working with children or adolescents with disabilities
- Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) preferred
- Willingness to be trained in ABA practices and district-approved crisis prevention and intervention procedures
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
- Support students in classroom instruction while helping to maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.
- Assist teachers with classroom routines, organization, and instructional activities.
- Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs), and individualized student programming under the direction of certified staff.
- Collect, maintain, and communicate student data to support instructional and behavioral decision-making.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating student interventions and supports.
- Reinforce academic, behavioral, communication, executive functioning, and social-emotional skills across school settings.
- Support students during transitions and in unstructured environments such as hallways, cafeteria, recess, assemblies, field trips, and extracurricular activities as assigned.
- Utilize assistive technology and augmentative communication systems as appropriate.
- Assist students with functional daily living skills, including but not limited to feeding, toileting, dressing, hygiene, mobility, transfers, and other personal care needs as required.
- Participate in district-approved de-escalation and physical restraint training, maintain certification, and implement approved techniques in accordance with Massachusetts regulations and district policy.
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families to support student success.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Complete required documentation and support communication logs as directed.
- Report concerns promptly to supervising teachers, the Special Education Coordinator, or administration.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal, supervising teacher(s), Special Education Coordinator, or Director of Student Services.
Hourly wage in accordance with the current collective bargaining agreement between the Educational Support Personnel and the Ashland School Committee.
Work schedule and hours will be determined by the Principal and/or Director of Student Services and may vary based on student needs and program requirements. The work year consists of the 180-day instructional calendar plus three professional development days.
Positions are subject to annual review. Hours, assignments, and placement within programs may change based on student enrollment, individual student needs, and budget considerations.
