The RoleWe are seeking a Director of Scientific Sales who leads by example.
This is a hands-on, quota-carrying leadership role designed for a driven sales professional who enjoys both closing complex deals and mentoring a growing team. You will work onsite alongside our sales and scientific applications team, actively selling while providing real-time coaching, strategic guidance, and operational leadership.
Reporting directly to the COO, you will play a central role in shaping Precisionary’s commercial growth, sales culture, and global reach.
Key Responsibilities- Carry an individual revenue quota, focusing on high-value accounts, technically complex opportunities, and strategic customers.
- Lead by example across the full sales cycle, including prospecting, discovery, technical discussions, pricing, negotiation, and close.
- Conduct the majority of sales activities via phone and video conferencing, with limited travel as needed.
- Work onsite with the sales and scientific applications team to foster a collaborative, high-energy environment.
- Provide real-time coaching by listening to calls, supporting demos, and helping advance active opportunities.
- Mentor junior team members in scientific selling, objection handling, and professional development.
- Refine sales processes, messaging, email templates, and follow-up cadence to improve conversion and consistency.
- Ensure accurate pipeline tracking and forecasting using our CRM tools.
- Maintain visibility into deal progress, risks, and opportunities.
- Partner with leadership to improve reporting, metrics, and sales efficiency.
- Manage and support international distributors and strategic sales partners.
- Drive partner performance through clear communication, regular reviews, and sales enablement materials.
- Ensure forecast accuracy, accountability, and prioritization of Precisionary products within partner portfolios.
- Experience: 5–10+ years in life science, scientific instrumentation, capital equipment, or technical B2B sales, with a strong track record of meeting or exceeding personal sales targets.
- Scientific Fluency: Comfortable selling complex hardware and workflows to researchers, core facilities, and technical stakeholders.
- Leadership Mindset: Prior experience mentoring, training, or managing sales or applications staff. Enjoys teaching and developing others.
- Player-Coach Mentality: Energized by closing deals while actively supporting and elevating the team.
- Commercial Versatility: Able to engage academic researchers, industry scientists, and distributor partners with equal confidence.
- Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using CRM systems and selling in a primarily virtual environment.
- Location Requirement: Must be willing to work onsite in Ashland, MA. This is not a remote position.
- Base Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience.
