Position Objective
The Grain Merchandiser is responsible for the purchase and sale of grain and feed commodities. They must have a strong understanding of the grain market and be able to identify and capitalize on trading opportunities. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated and results-oriented individual with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities- Analyze market data and trends to identify trading opportunities.
- Develop and execute trading strategies.
- Manage risk and minimize losses.
- Build and maintain relationships with customers and suppliers.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing.
- Monitor market conditions and make adjustments to trading strategies as needed.
- Stay up to date on industry news and regulations.
- Manage underlying hedging strategies for corn, beans, wheat, soybean meal, soybean oil.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in the grain industry.
- Strong understanding of the grain market.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- The work environment is typically office-based.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Bachelor of Science in Ag Business or Ag Economics or another related field (preferred, not required).
ExperiencePreferred 2-5 years of experience in related positions.
Skills- Excellent verbal and written communicator; strong logical and analytical skills.
- Desire to delve into the factors impacting the market and draw logically supported conclusions for marketing strategy.
- Strong attention to details of transactions.
- Ability to balance self confidence and assertiveness with analysis and logical factors.
