Ashland Theological Seminary (ATS) is a graduate division of Ashland University located in Ashland, Ohio. ATS seeks a qualified candidate in Practical Theology to enhance its mission of integrating doctrinal fidelity, scholarship, and community engagement. Candidates must agree with the Seminary’s Statement of Faith, Mission, Strategic Vision, Collegial Faculty Covenant, Code of Institutional Values and Conduct, and Ethos statement.
Responsibilities- Deliver courses in multiple formats, including in‑person, hybrid, intensive, and online.
- Represent the Seminary and University while engaging in community activities that promote theological education and Christian practices.
- Teach and advise students in graduate and undergraduate core and advanced Practical Theology courses, provide professional guidance, participate in scholarly and professional development activities, serve on Seminary departmental and university committees, and work collegially with faculty and administration.
- Demonstrate a knowledge of and commitment to the Brethren Church heritage and theological education delivered from a Christ‑centered worldview, express a strong commitment to a servant‑leadership model, and demonstrate the ability to succeed in this role.
- Possess experience/skills in homiletics, worship, spiritual formation, pastoral theology, and church and culture.
- PhD or equivalent in Practical Theology.
- A record of successful experience in higher education and/or other educational environments.
- Experience teaching in non‑traditional formats, blended and/or online courses.
- A track record as a collaborative, servant‑leader with outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
