Agricultural Education Instructor - Part Time
Location: Ashland High School, 1440 King Road, Ashland, OH 44805
DutiesThe Agricultural Education Instructor will teach 7th - 12th grade skills and knowledge in Agriculture. Designs sequential instruction and learning activities to meet instructional goals. Prepares daily lesson plans. Maintains positive classroom management with consistent expectations for learning and achievement. Assists students in obtaining the skills necessary to be successful in the industry. Works closely with the immediate supervisor, advisory committee and academic teachers to coordinate instruction and prepare students for successful completion of the Agricultural Education program, promoting a safe learning environment.
Plans, directs and evaluates the instructional process to best meet the needs of students. Proficient use of a personal computer. Actively engages with businesses for employment opportunities for students.
Successful candidate shall demonstrate strong organizational, communication, human relations, instructional, classroom management, team and public relations/community skills. Should have a sincere interest and commitment to work with students, parents, staff, business, community organizations and associate district schools. Must have a high school diploma, or GED, and at least five years of recent verifiable work experience in the field of Agriculture or a related field.
Teaching and/or training classroom experience preferred.
Applicants must hold a Standard Career-Technical Trade and Industrial Job Training Agricultural Educational Certificate/License, or equivalent approved qualifications. Must have the required degree and work experience as specified by the district. Includes: associate degree in Agricultural Education with three years of approved work experience, or bachelor’s degree in any field with five years of approved work experience, or relevant industry experience with specified hours.
Non‑certified applicants must complete state university/college teacher preparation coursework and a basic skills test (PRAXIS I) is recommended.
Contract – 185 contracted days. Contract to begin August 18, 2026 or earlier as needed.
SalaryAppropriate placement on 2026‑2027 teachers’ salary schedule based on certification/licensure, education/degree and experience.
