We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will support product development, production releases, testing, and continuous improvement. This role works from defined requirements under senior-level review and develops toward independent ownership of smaller projects. Direct conveyor experience is helpful, but it is not required.
- Create and revise 3D models, assemblies, detail drawings, and bills of material.
- Complete calculations and component selection with senior engineer review.
- Support prototypes, testing, data collection, and test documentation.
- Maintain accurate PDM, ERP, revision, and engineering-change records.
- Resolve drawing and production questions with guidance.
- Support cost reduction, standardization, and design-for-manufacturing work.
- Participate in design reviews, production trials, and corrective actions.
- Spend time on the production floor to understand fabrication, assembly, testing, and product performance.
- Communicate status, questions, and risks early.
- Follow established design, documentation, safety, and release standards.
- Complete assigned design work within approved requirements.
- Recommend design improvements, components, and manufacturing changes.
- Request review whenever requirements, safety, or technical direction are unclear.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field, completed or near completion.
- Working knowledge of 3D CAD and mechanical drawings.
- Understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, materials, manufacturing processes, and tolerancing.
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and willingness to learn.
- Hands-on experience through internships, co-ops, student projects, fabrication, maintenance, or related work is strongly valued.
- Material-handling or conveyor experience is helpful but not required.
- Exposure to machinery, automation, industrial equipment, PDM, ERP, prototyping, or testing preferred.
