Job Description

Appleseed Community Mental Health Center is seeking a part‑time mental health crisis prescreener. This position requires evening and weekend hours with a flexible schedule depending on the needs of the persons served. The role involves assessing people in a secure setting who are in the midst of a psychiatric crisis to determine their level of safety and secure proper level of care, providing community psychiatric supportive treatment, and conducting diagnostic assessments.

Knowledge of crisis interventions and psychiatric hospitalization requirements is preferred.

• Assess individuals in crisis to determine safety level and secure appropriate care.
• Provide community psychiatric supportive treatment and diagnostic assessment.
• Apply crisis interventions and knowledge of psychiatric hospitalization requirements.

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum licensed credential: LSW, LPC, LISW, or LPCC.
• Strong clinical skills with experience in a correctional or community mental health counseling setting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of mental illness, motivational interviewing, family systems treatment, trauma‑informed care, crisis interventions, and DSM‑5/ICD‑10.
• Strong commitment to client rights.
• Car available during working hours, with liability insurance $100,000/$300,000 and legal driving privileges.
• Must pass background check, driving record check, and drug test.

• Paid County Mental Health Officer Training.
• Earn $100 per on‑call shift.
• Earn an additional $110 or more per active pre‑screen.
• No minimum commitment required.
• Flexible schedule.
