Building Service Worker

• 1. Cleaning and maintaining living facilities, dining areas, laundry areas, restrooms, shower areas, classrooms and offices.
• 2. Replenishing soap and paper products.
• 3. Removing trash and recycling from buildings while replacing liners in the trash and recycling containers.
• 4. Sweeping, mopping and cleaning floors and stairwells.
• 5. Vacuuming and shampooing carpeted areas.
• 6. Dusting furniture, washing walls and windows.
• 7. Cleaning outside steps and entryways (may include snow removal from entryways).
• 8. Moving heavy furniture, supplies and equipment.
• 9. Burnishing, refinishing and stripping tile and terrazzo flooring.
• 10. Reporting items in need of repair and ordering supplies.
• 11. Performing related or special duties as assigned by a supervisor.

Must be dependable, trustworthy, flexible and a team player. Applicant must have reliable transportation. Attention to detail is critical.

• 1. Traveling to all areas of the University to perform assigned tasks.
• 2. Performing tasks in high, low and confined spaces.
• 3. Lifting boxes, trash, ladders and equipment.
• 4. Utilizing power equipment (vacuum cleaners, carpet extractors, high and low speed burnishers, auto scrubbers and other possible equipment used in connection with building cleaning).
• 5. Exposure to chemicals in cleaning products, dust, dirt and germs.
• 6. Exposure to external temperatures during the cleaning of entrances or around the perimeter of the building and exposure to heat/humidity during summer months.
