Job Summary
The Packer is responsible for processing products that are packed into trays and cartons for shipping. The role includes preparing cartons, folding, taping, labeling, inspecting final packages for integrity, and removing out‑of‑spec items.
Responsibilities- Prepare cartons/trays by folding, taping, sorting, and labeling cartons.
- Manually pack and palletize product, ensuring correct seals and appropriate labels.
- Inspect finished product packaging for integrity, including bag registration, code dates, prices, and seals.
- Remove out‑of‑spec product and communicate packaging problems to supervisors.
- Fill cartons/displays as specified, stack cartons/trays on pallets/skids with the correct stacking pattern.
- Use pallet jack to move finished goods weighing up to 300lbs when necessary.
- Keep work area clean, organize supplies, maintain 5S protocols, and keep aisles/exits clear.
- Perform sanitation tasks, equipment washes, and wipeouts as directed.
- Assist with line startup, equipment changeovers, tray‑making and stapling machines, and other duties as required.
- Report equipment or safety issues to Machine Operators, Group Leaders, or Supervisors.
High School Diploma or GED required; at least 1 year of production experience in a manufacturing environment.
Physical RequirementsThe position requires frequent walking, standing, and occasional driving, with continuous use of hands. Tasks include lifting and carrying up to 100lbs, climbing ladders, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive twisting. The worker must be able to perform the job while seated, standing, and walking for extended periods.
Work EnvironmentThe job involves exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet or humid conditions, high places, fumes or airborne particles, and caustic chemicals. Noise levels are typically loud.
