Sanitation Technician – Ashland
Shift and Hours2nd Shift – hours may vary depending on coverage and production schedule, especially during holidays.
Responsibilities- Clean and sanitize process equipment to establish a clean environment for producing and packaging quality products.
- Ensure equipment and facility are effectively sanitized in accordance with food manufacturing regulations and government sanitation requirements.
- Perform plant cleaning as prescribed by the Master Sanitation Schedule.
- Maintain general housekeeping in all plant areas.
- Utilize powered cleaning equipment such as powered lifts, scissors lifts, power washers, foam applicators, steamers, automatic compactors, motors, and other non‑mechanized equipment.
- Operate equipment safely, including floor jacks, trash compactor, vacuum cleaner, and floor scrubber.
- Follow safe lifting and carrying instructions for various sizes, shapes, and weights; report defective equipment and all job‑related injuries.
- Disassemble and reassemble machines, pumps, bucket elevators, slurry equipment, filters, and other processing equipment.
- Work independently with no direct supervision while maintaining a high level of efficiency.
- Learn and perform proper Allergen Elimination Procedure.
- Practice and adhere to safety and hygiene guidelines for housekeeping and personal protection.
- Follow all applicable GMPs for the assigned area.
- Maintain and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) per OSHA, plant‑defined GMPs, or supervisor direction.
- Participate in safety training, team development programs, and plant initiatives.
- Read Safety Data Sheets and prepare and use chemical cleaning agents consistently with manufacturer recommendations.
- Assist departments with spill containment.
- Assist pest control technicians by reporting pest activity.
- Remove product debris to trash.
- Be trained in Lock‑out Tag‑out and blood‑borne pathogen procedures.
- Support Continuous Improvement initiatives including 5S (sort, set, shine, standardize, and sustain).
- Collect recyclables and load them into proper trailers.
- Mix and handle chemical concentrates; may input concentrates into Excel.
- Create or update Standard Operating Procedures.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Mandatory overtime may be required.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year of production experience in a manufacturing environment.

The noise level is quiet in office areas but loud in the plant, requiring hearing protection. Employees are exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet/humid conditions, occasional high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, and extreme heat or cold.
Compensation and Benefits- Starting rate: $19.45 per hour.
- Individual base pay may vary by location and factors such as experience and training.
- Additional compensation may include overtime, bonuses, and other forms.
