Full-time. When others sleep, you lead-- Join our night shift nursing team! Shift: 6p-6:30am.

Responsibilities
  • Direct the day-to-day functions of the nursing assistants in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility.
  • Ensure that all nursing personnel comply with the written policies and procedures established by the facility.
  • Participate in the development, maintenance, and implementation of the facility’s quality assurance program for the nursing service department.
  • Participate in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies as may be requested.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as required; assist in planning the nursing services portion of the resident’s discharge plan as necessary.
  • Interpret the department’s policies and procedures to personnel, residents, visitors, and government agencies as required.
  • Complete accident/incident reports as necessary; maintain the Daily Census Report and submit to the Business Office as required.
  • Provide direct patient care as part of the Nursing Service, including medication administration, monitoring resident status, and responding to resident needs in accordance with the plan of care.
  • Write resident charges and ensure accurate charting and documentation in accordance with center policies.
  • Participate in the development, maintenance, and implementation of the facility’s discharge planning and care plans.
  • Assist in planning the nursing services portion of the resident’s discharge plan and coordinate with other departments as required.
  • Maintain and ensure the Nursing Service Procedures Manual is current and reflects day-to-day procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, physicians, and other health care personnel; provide education and guidance as needed.
Charting and Documentation
  • Complete and file required recordkeeping forms/charts upon admission, transfer, and discharge; maintain compliance with the center’s medical records system (electronic or traditional paper).
  • Encourage attending physicians to review treatment plans and sign their orders; transcribe and record orders accurately.
  • Chart nurses’ notes in an informative and descriptive manner reflecting the care provided and resident response.
  • Sign and date all entries in the resident’s medical record.
Drug Administration Functions
  • Prepare and administer medications as ordered; verify resident identity before administering medications.
  • Maintain adequate supply of floor stock medications; order medications and supplies as necessary.
  • Ensure narcotic records are accurate; notify Nurse Supervisor of discrepancies; review medication cards for order accuracy and adherence to stop orders.
Personnel and Safety
  • Provide leadership to nursing personnel on your unit/shift; participate in performance evaluations and staffing decisions.
  • Meet with shift staff regularly to identify and correct problems and improve services; ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Maintain safety, sanitation, and infection control standards; ensure proper use of PPE and appropriate handling of hazardous materials.
  • Participate in training and continuing education programs; comply with OSHA/CDC guidelines as required.
Nursing Care Functions
  • Inspect and prepare rooms for admissions; participate in resident orientation and rounds with physicians as needed.
  • Coordinate diagnostic and therapeutic services as ordered; consult with residents’ physicians to provide comprehensive care and rehabilitation.
  • Carry out restorative and rehabilitative programs; ensure treatment areas are clean and safe.
  • Perform procedures within the LPN scope of practice as defined by state law (e.g., catheterization, dressings, etc.).
Resident Rights
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident care information; ensure privacy and respect in care delivery.
  • Honor residents’ rights, including the right to refuse treatment in accordance with facility policies.
