Compensation: $20.58 per hour (step 1 of the pay range, no benefits)

Job OverviewWe need energetic, passionate outdoor people for the seasonal Lifeguard position at Mohican State Park.
Responsibilities- Rescue swimmers in distress (enter water, use rescue equipment such as tube, board, canoe); perform emergency first aid (CPR, bleeding control, cover victim).
- Guard designated swimming area against drownings & related accidents; advise public of Ohio Revised Code & ODNR rules; request compliance; attend training sessions.
- Complete incident report forms; inspect safety equipment for needed repairs.
- Maintain swimming area (picking up litter, emptying trash, checking restrooms & vending machines, mowing grass, painting surfaces); keep supervisor informed of maintenance needs.
- Hourly pay $20.58/hr.
May 2026 – September 2026. Positions used during anticipated busiest season; may include weekends, evenings & rotating shifts.
Unusual Working Conditions- Exposure to weather.
- Exposure to potentially hostile general public.
- Exposure to danger in performing water rescue.
Seasonal positions remain at step 1 of the pay range and are not eligible for benefits (e.g., vision, dental, life, health insurance, holiday pay, leave accruals, shift differentials).
Qualifications- American Red Cross lifeguard training certificate (or equivalent: YMCA lifeguard certificate, BSA lifeguard certificate, Ellis & Associates national pool & watermark lifeguard training certificate, or nationally recognized equivalent).
- CPR certificate.
- If work longer than four months, final applicant must submit to urinalysis prior to appointment (positive test results disqualify).
