We have an opportunity for a Quality Manager to join our Ashland, OH team. You will provide leadership for the quality team in the resolution of problems and continuous improvement of product processes, and the quality management system. You will work within the Ashland Plant leadership team to address all areas of business operations, with a focus on achieving quality and operating objectives.
You will:
- Assure compliance with ISO quality requirements for the site. Manage the relationship with the registrar and lead cross functional internal audit teams.
- Conduct management reviews of the quality system and make necessary adjustments to align the system to the business strategy.
- Create an environment where people can grow and develop.
- Lead by example in creating a positive, "can do" culture.
- Understand techniques for facilitating organizational change, removing roadblocks, performing constraint management, motivating, and resolving conflict.
- Ensure that training is in alignment with strategic business needs and the quality objectives using various methods (training needs analysis, training curriculum development, techniques for evaluating training effectiveness). Create and execute Individual Development Plans (IDPs) for quality department employees.
- Deploy strategic goals and objectives into operational plans and improvement projects.
- Facilitate and promote problem-solving tools (7 quality control tools, seven management and planning tools, root cause analysis, Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA), 8D and other like models).
- Facilitate and promote process management/lean manufacturing approaches with a quality principled focus.
- Drive process and product improvements to reduce internal defects and warranty cost within the foundry and pump plant manufacturing processes.
- Drive toward world-class in product integrity, process quality and supplier quality using the appropriate technology and business tools such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, APQP, PPAP and SPC.
- Develop and implement quality specifications, testing and test procedures for all new products and changes to existing products. Lead quality team in proactive management of product design and product change process approvals. Work with new product development teams to ensure that products are designed with quality in mind.
- Proactively approach customers, make trips to the field, etc., to help build relationships and a clear understanding of expectations. Continually anticipate customer needs and priorities and integrate them into the quality system and policy.
- Partner with other Pentair supply facing groups on supplier management and development.
- Maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on the results of operating systems and business execution (external warranty, internal PPM, etc.).
- Compile and present quality metrics, countermeasures, and action plans for operations reviews.
- Facilitate quality alerts and corrective actions in response to customer and internal issues. Work proactively with a cross-functional Quality Improvement Team (QIT) to ensure timely and effective issue resolution and appropriate escalation of systemic issues.
Qualifications:
- BS degree in Engineering or similar technical discipline. A BS in Metallurgy would be ideal, but not required, for this role.
- 5+ years' experience in managing or supervising quality systems and processes. A minimum of three years of this experience must be in a decision-making position with the authority to define, execute or control projects/processes and to be responsible for the outcome.
- Prior foundry, or foundry supplier management, experience preferred.
- ASQ certification is preferred.
