Job Overview
CSM Kenworth in Ashland is hiring Entry level and Experienced Diesel Truck Mechanics. This role involves the repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Class 8 trucks in a progressive work environment.
Responsibilities- Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on medium and heavy duty vehicles.
- Troubleshoot electrical, drive train, HVAC, brake, engine, and suspension systems to identify needed repairs and perform corrective action.
- Write accurate, clear, and detailed repair descriptions on repair orders.
- Use diagnostic equipment to detect and isolate faults in medium and heavy duty vehicles and interpret test results.
- Read written fault descriptions on repair orders and determine the most efficient repair procedure.
- Communicate detailed repair information to the Shop Foreman for inclusion on the repair order.
- Obtain supervisor permission before completing diagnosed repairs or adding additional repairs.
- Coordinate with parts department personnel to obtain or order necessary parts.
- Perform road tests on customer vehicles to assist in problem isolation or verify repair procedures.
- Track and record clocked hours to the appropriate repair order operation.
- Write clear and detailed repair descriptions that include cause of failure and correction/repair procedures.
- Interact professionally and positively with customers.
- Assist other technicians with repair procedures as needed.
- High School Diploma required; formal technical degree, certificate, or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Experienced technicians must have at least 3-5 years of diesel mechanic experience.
- Personal tool inventory sufficient to complete job duties.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Possession of a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Ability to read and interpret shop repair order forms, repair manuals, electrical schematics, and technical bulletins.
- Basic computer and Windows proficiency.
- Ability to work in an environment with frequent exposure to outside weather elements.
- Availability to work 8-10 hour days, including overtime as needed.
- Physical capability to bend, stoop, crawl, walk, sit, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
