Salary: $18.15 - $22.04 per hour

Job Summary

Assists teaching staff by performing instructional tasks with students in small groups and one‑on‑one settings, performs record keeping, and student supervision duties.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Follows and maintains knowledge of applicable District policies and procedures.
  • Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments (reading, math and writing groups).
  • Assists in testing and evaluating students' abilities in math, writing, and reading and progress as directed by licensed staff member.
  • Assists staff with record keeping, copying, filing, grading assignments and taking attendance.
  • Monitors and assists students as needed in the classroom, at recess, and at lunch.
  • May be asked to clean up spills and wipe down tables in cafeteria when assigned supervision duty.
  • Monitors and assists students as needed in the classroom, at recess, and ervises large groups of children at recess and lunch ensuring safety and security at all times.
  • Transports recess equipment outside for activities; reports unsafe equipment and secures equipment when not in use.
  • Assists with loading and unloading students from buses, transitioning students from classroom to lunchroom, music, recess, library etc.
  • Assists the licensed staff member in developing educational materials (copying, typing, laminating, etc.).
  • Follows prescribed daily schedule as outlined by the building administrator.
  • Implements daily activities and instruction for students under the direction of and planned by the licensed staff member.
  • Assists the licensed staff member in the set‑up and maintenance of the classroom, materials and supplies.
  • Assists the licensed staff member in scheduling appropriate meetings and completion of paperwork.
  • Assists the licensed staff member, when directed, in communicating with parents/guardians.
  • Participates effectively at regular team meetings with licensed staff members and other support staff, as requested, using appropriate social skills.
  • Assists in maintaining a safe environment for students at all times.
  • Reports safety, sanitary and fire hazards immediately to supervisor.
  • Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff and parents and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
  • Appropriately maintains and secures confidential records and inquiries.
  • Professionally represents the school and the District in interactions with parents, community, staff, and students.
  • Maintains appropriate certifications and training as required.
  • Attends work regularly and is punctual.
  • Annually pass the District's required online training by the District's assigned due‑date.
Marginal Duties And Responsibilities
  • Assists office staff and licensed staff members as necessary including answering telephones, routing telephone calls or messages to appropriate staff and operating general office machinery including photocopy machine, computer and fax machine.
  • Performs minor first aid in compliance with District policies and completes required paperwork in a timely fashion.
  • Assists on school field trips, as requested.
  • Files documents and records according to predetermined classifications, maintaining alphabetical index, and cross references files.
  • Attends in‑service trainings.
  • Attends staff meetings, as requested.
Supervisory Responsibilities

All school employees have some responsibility for supervising students and assisting in maintaining a safe environment.

Qualifications

Education and/or

Experience:

Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two‑year college or technical school or one to two years' related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must meet current No Child Left Behind (NCLB) requirements. Prior successful experience working in a school setting or with children strongly preferred.
