Hours/FTE: 0.075 FTE (3 hours per week);
Temporary
Salary: $18.15 - $22.04 per hour
JOB SUMMARY
Assists teaching staff by performing instructional tasks with middle school students in small groups and one‑on‑one settings, record keeping, and supervision. Performs duties with close supervision.
- Follows and maintains knowledge of applicable District policy(ies) and procedures.
- Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments (reading, math and writing groups).
- Tests and evaluates students' abilities in math, writing, and reading and progress as directed by teacher.
- Assists staff with record keeping, copying, filing, grading assignments, data entry and taking attendance.
- Monitors and assists students as needed in the classroom, playground, locker rooms, bus duty and at meal times.
- Assists the teacher in developing educational materials (copying, typing, laminating, etc.).
- Follows prescribed daily schedule as outlined by the building administrator.
- Assists the teacher in the set‑up and maintenance of the classroom, materials and supplies.
- Assists the teacher in scheduling appropriate meetings and completion of paperwork.
- Assists the teacher, when directed, in communicating with parents/guardians.
- Participates effectively at regular team meetings with teacher and other support staff using appropriate social skills.
- Maintains safe environment for students at all times.
- Reports safety, sanitary and fire hazards immediately to supervisor.
- Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff and parents and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
- Appropriately maintain and secure confidential records and inquiries.
- While working collaboratively with others, implements decisions within ASD established policies and procedures.
- Professionally represents the school and the District in interactions with parents, community, staff, and students and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
- Works collaboratively with District and building administrators and other department staff to provide reliable service to customers.
- Communicate clearly with coworkers and other staff.
- Participate as an effective team member.
- Provide impeccable customer service.
- Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff, administrators and parents and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
- Maintains appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
- Attends work regularly and is punctual.
- Annually pass the District's required online training by the District's assigned due date.
- Assists office staff and licensed staff members as necessary including answering telephones, routing telephone calls or messages to appropriate staff and operating general office machinery including photocopy machine, computer and fax machine.
- Performs minor first aid in compliance with District policy(ies) and completes required paperwork in a timely fashion.
- Fills out communication logs.
- Washes and dries student clothing as needed.
- General cleaning including washing dishes, vacuuming and sanitizing.
- Attends and participates in planning and in‑service trainings.
- Attends staff meetings.

Experience:
Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two‑year college or technical school or one to two years' related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must meet current requirements prior to hire. Prior successful experience working in a school setting or clinical setting with physically aggressive students strongly preferred. - Interpersonal
