Instructor of Physics (One-Year)
College of Natural and Social Sciences at Southern Oregon University (SOU) is seeking candidates for a full-time, nine month, professional-track, Instructor of Physics. This is a one-year hire with the potential for renewal.

Job DescriptionTeaching responsibilities will include algebra-based and calculus-based general physics lectures and labs. In addition, teaching assignments may include introductory coursework in physics/engineering/material science for general education. Collaborative courses with other disciplines will also be encouraged and could include courses such as applied mathematics, energy and climate change, environmental engineering, scientific writing, agricultural mechanization, fabrication, etc.
Initial appointment at the rank of Instructor requires a Master's degree in Physics, Engineering, or field or equivalent thereof and demonstrated teaching potential.
Other responsibilities include participation in departmental meetings, student support services, mentoring, and participation in departmental curriculum discussions. Teaching may include online courses.
Minimum Qualifications- Initial appointment at the rank of Instructor requires a Master's degree in Physics, Engineering, or related field or equivalent thereof.
- Candidates must have exceptional written and verbal skills as well as a desire to advise and mentor students outside of the classroom. The candidate should have experience incorporating subject matter content into undergraduate level instruction curricula.
- Candidates should demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching and active participation in the life of the institution.
- Terminal degree, in Physics, Engineering, or related field
- Traditional and online teaching experience in a college or university setting in one or more areas listed above
- Industry experience in any or a combination of the areas listed above
