Adjunct Instructor​/Health & Exercise Science, and Outdoor Adventure Leadership

POSITION SUMMARY

POOLED ADJUNCTS:
Applicants are considered for adjunct appointments that may become available during the posted triennium. Adjuncts fill temporary, part‑time teaching positions that can be one term (13 weeks) or multiple terms as needed. Applicants may withdraw at any time. The pool is refreshed triennially and applicants will be notified to re‑apply if required.

• Teach courses within Health & Exercise Science and Outdoor Adventure Leadership, including undergraduate and graduate courses such as health promotion, fitness and management, physical therapy, public health, allied health, coaching, wellness, sports medicine, sports participation, technical skills, risk management, and expedition planning.
• Prepare instructional materials, deliver direct instruction, assess student learning, and maintain office hours for academic advising and student contact.
• Provide laboratory or workshop instruction that includes using instrumentation and equipment safely and effectively.
• Participate in professional development, keep current in the discipline, and perform service activities such as committee work, program administration, and student support.

• Master’s or terminal degree in the discipline taught or a related field; OR a Bachelor’s degree plus equivalency of master’s level experience.
• Demonstrated teaching potential and familiarity with discipline‑specific equipment.
• For Adjunct Assistant Professor: terminal degree or terminal‑degree‑in‑progress with master’s degree.

• Master’s degree in the discipline taught or related field.
• Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and active participation in institutional life.
• Professional experience equating to one academic year of full‑time college teaching or the combination of part‑time teaching while a graduate student.
• Experience with advanced students and applicable field practice.

• Rate of pay: $650 per ELU for non‑terminally prepared adjunct instructors (term‑by‑term); $750 per ELU for terminally prepared adjunct instructors (term‑by‑term). Graduate‑level courses may be paid at a higher rate. A typical 4‑credit course is loaded at 4 ELU.
• Full‑time equivalence: typically less than 7.5 ELU, up to 15 ELU per term or 45 ELU per year for 1.0 full‑time equivalence.
• Not a benefits‑eligible position.

• Successfully complete a Criminal Background Check.
• Be willing to travel, attend off‑site professional development, and work additional hours as needed.
