Job SummaryAssists teaching staff by performing instructional tasks with students in small groups and one-on-one settings, record keeping, and supervision. Performs duties with close supervision.
Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Works directly with students with a variety of needs at multiple school sites.
- Implements planned activities using teacher-designed methods and materials for individual and small student groups for instructional support.
- Assists students in the use of a variety of computer software and testing programs.
- Tests and evaluates students' abilities in math, writing, reading, listening and speaking and tracks progress as directed by teacher.
- Monitors and assists students as needed in the classroom, playground, locker rooms, bus duty and at meal times.
- Assists students as needed with minor first aid, clean up, and toileting.
- Assists the teacher in the set-up and maintenance of the classroom, materials and supplies; including basic classroom housekeeping.
- Prepares and provides clerical support such as record keeping, copying, filing, grading assignments, data entry and taking attendance
- Assists the teacher in scheduling appropriate meetings and completion of paperwork.
- Creates documents in languages other than English for non-English speaking students and parents.
- Translates and interprets for students, staff and parents.
- Supports teacher with in home visits as needed.
- Maintains and secures confidential records and inquiries as needed.
- Collaborates effectively as a team member at regular team meetings.
- Engages positively in staff meetings and staff development trainings.
- Facilitates meetings and conversations between staff and parents and/or students.
- Professionally represents the school and the District in interactions with parents, community, staff, and students and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
- Understands and complies with applicable District policies and procedures.
- Attends work regularly and is punctual.
- Follows prescribed daily schedule as outlined by the building administrator.
- Maintains appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
- Maintains safe environment for students at all times.
- Reports safety, sanitary and fire hazards immediately to supervisor.
- Attend work regularly and is punctual.
- Annually pass the District's required online training by the District's assigned due-date.
- Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures.
- While working collaboratively with others, implements decisions within ASD established policies and procedures.
- Professionally represent the school and the District in interactions with parents, community, staff, and students and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
All school employees have some responsibility for supervising students and assisting in maintaining a safe environment
