PURPOSE/
DESCRIPTION:
The After school Choir teacher will provide high-quality group instruction to elementary school students in an after school program setting. The teacher will foster a positive, engaging, and supportive environment that builds students' musical skills, teamwork, and love of learning. Instruction will focus on developing foundational skills on choir preparing students for elementary school music programs and future musical opportunities.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Plan and deliver engaging after school group lessons for elementary school choir students.
- Teach beginning and intermediate choir techniques.
- Prepare students for informal performances, showcases, or concerts as part of the program.
- Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports all learners.
- Communicate regularly with the program coordinator, school staff, and families regarding student progress and upcoming events.
- Ensure proper care, storage, and handling of instruments and classroom materials.
- Uphold school and program policies regarding student safety and behavior.
- Attend work regularly and be punctual.
- Annually pass the District's required online training by the District's assigned due-date.
- While working collaboratively with others, implements decisions within ASD established policies and procedures.
- Professionally represent the school and the District in interactions with parents, community, staff, and students and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
- Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONSEducation and/or
Experience:
Prior experience leading, facilitating or coaching student activities strongly preferred. Background in Music, Music Education, or related field (preferred) or equivalent professional experience. Ability to model vocal techniques. Prior teaching experience with elementary or middle school students strongly desired.
Interpersonal/Communication
Skills:
Works well with diverse populations of students and adults. Strong communication skills including listening, problem solving, and de-escalation. Remains open to others' ideas and contribute to building a positive student experience.
