The Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) is seeking a skilled and collaborative Support Services Assistant to provide essential logistical, clerical, and operational support across departments, with a focus on mail and package handling, company-wide office supply coordination, furniture assembly, and transportation services. This role is ideal for a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in precision.

This role is currently under contract negotiation to join IATSE Local 154.

The Role You’ll Play

As Support Services Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth daily operations of Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s administrative functions. This role will regularly interact with internal staff, vendors, and artists, and must be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This role requires a proactive attitude, strong organizational skills, a customer service mindset, and the physical capacity to perform hands‑on tasks including lifting, driving, and equipment setup.

What

You’ll Do
  • Process or provide support for all incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and express shipments
  • Pick up and deliver packages to performers/creative team apartments
  • Pick up and deliver packages around all owned and rented OSF facilities including but not limited to OSF Housing
  • Provide basic training to employees on mail procedures
  • Provide driving/transportation services, including (but not limited to): shuttle services, artist transport, pickup and delivery of mail, packages, other materials; and returns to local stores. Driving OSF Fleet vehicles to transport guests, employees, or fixtures and furnishings is a requirement of the position which may require weekend and evening work, or after‑hours requests for assistance
  • Manage the operation of the postage machine.
  • Ensure mail related filing systems are maintained and up to date.

  • Comfortable driving vans and up to 26‑foot box trucks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite).
  • Strong and efficient analytical, problem identification, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Position requires the capacity to adapt to changing priorities and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a positive manner with company members, managers, co‑workers, and vendors from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering information.
  • Comfortable with navigating third‑party carriers’ websites (USPS, Fed Ex, and UPS).
  • Must be of legal age to drive rental vehicles. Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean Motor Vehicles Record (MVR).
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in customer service, shipping/receiving, or office support roles
  • Background in theatre or live entertainment is a plus
  • Excellent organizational and motivational skills
Physical & Schedule Requirements
  • Ability to perform repetitious duties, including stairs and standing/sitting for long periods of time, lifting twisting, stooping, and walking
  • Frequently required to climb stairs, walk across campus (often while pulling a wagon), and navigate a variety of terrain including but not limited to steep inclines
  • Regularly lift 50 pounds with or without accommodation
  • Climb ladders
  • Driving a motorized vehicle is a requirement. All weather conditions and low visibility driving is a requirement
