Job Summary:
To maintain fully-stocked, attractive displays and provide prompt, friendly and helpful customer service. To safely handle and process Meat and Seafood items.
- Greeting Customers Initiate eye contact, smile, and give a warm verbal greeting.
- Customer Engagement Offer personal assistance, listen actively, confirm understanding, demonstrate knowledge or seek an expert, walk customers to the item, confirm satisfaction, offer further assistance, and give a friendly parting comment. Employees may decline gratuities first; if the customer insists, acceptance is allowed.
- Facility Maintain a neat, clean, and safe sales floor and public areas; manage customer supplies, merchandising, and signage; ensure easy customer access throughout the facility.
- Maintain all work spaces in a clean and orderly manner.
- Advise Manager of department repair and maintenance needs.
- Keep all displays and customer areas clean and organized.
- Ensure sanitation for product processing and handling according to Department of Agriculture, Organic Handling Standards, and department procedures.
- Follow health, sanitation, and safety procedures at all times.
- All employees are encouraged to help out with store-wide tasks as needed.
- Interact positively and respectfully with coworkers; attempt to resolve conflicts, asking for assistance when necessary.
- Approach work with enthusiasm and openness to having fun while maintaining a high level of productivity and professionalism.
- Contribute to the team by encouraging open communication and by setting an example of punctuality, thoroughness, organization, and a positive attitude.
- Treat all coworkers with respect and lend a hand willingly when needed.
- Give and receive constructive criticism and praise, including written evaluations.
- Stay informed by reading department and store logs, meeting minutes, and bulletin boards.
- Inform manager of any workplace issue or problem that you observe.
- Participate in employee and Manager Performance Evaluations in your Department.
- Attend team and staff meetings, workshops, and trainings.
- Follow store and departmental procedures, guidelines, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Perform other tasks as requested by a Manager or Supervisor.
- Lift and/or move up to 60 pounds frequently.
- Work in cold conditions (40-50°F) for an entire shift and temperatures below 40°F for extended periods.
- Stand and walk for the entire shift.
