Berea Baptist Church is seeking a skilled and dedicated organist to support our traditional worship service and choir ministry. This individual will provide organ accompaniment for Sunday morning worship, weekly choir rehearsals, and special seasonal services, working collaboratively with our pianist and Worship Pastor. The organist plays an important role in enriching the worship experience and supporting the spiritual life of the congregation through music that reflects reverence, tradition, and the love of Christ.
Key Responsibilities- Provide organ accompaniment for the traditional choir during weekly rehearsals and Sunday morning worship.
- Collaborate closely with the pianist and traditional service Worship Pastor to prepare and rehearse musical selections.
- Accompany congregational hymns, offertories, preludes, postludes, and special music as needed.
- Support seasonal services such as Christmas, Easter, and other church-wide events.
- Maintain a spirit of cooperation, flexibility, and professionalism in working with choir members, staff, and volunteers.
- Arrive punctually and prepared for all scheduled rehearsals and services.
- Communicate proactively regarding scheduling, availability, and musical needs.
- A heart for ministry and a commitment to the mission, vision, values, and beliefs of Berea Baptist Church.
- Proficiency in organ performance, particularly in traditional hymnody and choral accompaniment.
- Experience accompanying choirs or congregational singing in a church setting preferred.
- Ability to read music and adapt to various styles within the traditional worship context.

- Reliability, professionalism, and a collaborative spirit.
This is a part-time, salaried position. The organist’s weekly schedule typically averages 8-10 hours per week, though hours may vary, and generally includes:
- Weekly choir rehearsal (typically Wednesday evening)
- Sunday morning worship service (11:00 AM), including pre-service preparation
- Personal practice time as needed
- Additional services and rehearsals as scheduled for special events
The organ at Berea is a 2-manual Schantz pipe organ with 11 ranks. Dedicated in 1984.
This is a part-time position based on approximately 8-10 hours per week.
Salary range: $12,500 – 13,500, commensurate with experience, education, and skills.
