Randolph-Macon College invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position of Assistant Professor and Director of Choral Activities in the Department ofArts to begin September 1, 2027.

Randolph-Macon College facultyteach, advise, conduct research and engage in scholarship, andserve the college and department. Primary teaching responsibilities will include recruiting for and leading two choral ensembles(Concert Choir and Chamber Singers), teaching choral conducting, aswell as teaching and developing courses to support the Department’smusic major/minor, its music education program, and contributionsto general education.

• DMA in Choral Conducting or PhD/DME in Choral Music Education(or a related field) to be completed at time of appointment,September 1, 2027;
• Prior experience leading choral ensembles at the collegiate orsecondary levels;
• Evidence of engagement with varied choral repertoire;
• Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching;
• Evidence of a commitment to undergraduate teaching and student engagement;
• Prior experience teaching choral musicians of varying levels of expertise; and
• Experience working with students and a demonstrated commitment to pedagogical methods that support all learners in reaching theirmaximum potential.

• Evidence of effective strategies for recruiting a broad spectrum of choral singers
• Experience and training in vocal pedagogy
• Experience and training in music education
• Experience teaching conducting
• Evidence of professional activity in the candidate’s specialty(i.e., a record of publication, presentation, and/or performance)
• Experience in one or more of the following musical fields:theory, composition, technology, musical theater, music education
• Evidence of a commitment to student engagement
• Engagement in professional organizations
